When it comes to tech implementation, don’t do it all on your own

VIDEO | Automation; artificial intelligence; robotic processing; it’s easy to get swept up by shiny new tech. However, reality often hits – and quickly – when it comes to actual implementation. Netta Christensen of Maersk, Malin Löfgren of Volvo, and Fredrik Simonson of Zanders took to the stage at the Treasury 360° Nordic 2024 conference to share their experiences of the hard work behind the buzz in technological implementation.

As moderator Britt Jensen pointed out, for a panel about technology, there was surprisingly very little talk about actual systems. Instead, the focus was on people and teamwork – perhaps there’s no moving away from the human element, even when it’s about technology.

Asked to sum up the “dos” of technological implementation, Simonson emphasised the importance of defining what is to be achieved. Löfgren agreed, but reminded the audience to celebrate the achievements when they happen. Christensen was all about the importance of a budget – “define the budget so that you can bring the value you want to bring.”

Overall, the panellists agreed on one point: Do not think that you can do it on your own, and always build a team with expertise to go on the journey of technological transformation with you.

The panellists were:
Netta Christensen, Head of Global Cash Management, Maersk,
Malin Löfgren, Global Cash Manager, Volvo Group, and
Fredrik Simonson, Senior Manager, Zanders,
