
For CEZ, the SAP S/4HANA platform came with the promise of a shiny new business infrastructure for treasury operations and transactions. “The previous architecture was fragmented. There were workarounds, parallel entries, and so on,” Krčka reveals.
The process of transformation was a tedious one that was challenging to detail succinctly in a 20 minute session, but Krčka shares some lessons. “First of all, use a standard system as much as possible. It can be SAP or another TMS system – but use a standard system as much as possible.” Next, consider capacity challenges, especially when it comes to staffing. CEZ’s transformation took a total of around 50 people, including external consultants. Communication is key, and support from the right implementation partner can make a world of difference.
Looking forward, the firm is currently building a proof of concept for cloud analytics, and establishing use cases for artificial intelligence (AI).
