With over 9,300 delegates expected over four days, SWIFT’s flagship conference got going in Amsterdam on Monday morning. Opening speaker: the Netherlands’ queen consort, Máxima, ex-Deutsche banker.

SWIFT’s own content focuses not least on the implementation of the ISO 20022 messaging standard across the industry, yet anything around infrastructure, financial messaging and payments is likely to be covered. Otherwise, the emerging Fintech industry will help make sure that the exhibition floor is rich with system demos and and bold claims of pending revolution.
A separate hall, called Discovery, features stands in bare-steel scaffolding and fluorescent-tube lighting, in contrast to the posh architecture of the traditional exhibitors in the main area.
