For investor dialogue, social media is now the natural place

VIDEO | With costs of traditional investor-recruitment roadshows running in the thousands of euro per day (and so even per recruited investor), the emergence of digital alternatives holds great promise for issuers – deepening and widening the investor communication as well as cutting cost. At June’s Treasury 360° Nordic event, Tue Østergaard of HC Andersen Capital talked about how to make IR more digital, democratic and sustainable. Watch his half hour.

With the new possibilities, we need to learn how to service share- and bondholders in a new way, Tue Østergaard argues, seeking to make his audience in Copenhagen “inspired about new ways of doing things you’ve done for many, many years”. Tue is the founder and CEO of HC Andersen Capital, beside a number of chairman and investor roles.

As treasury and investor relations enter the digital-media age, it is easy to be scared by the negative sides – but to frown at the new platforms is to miss the point. Instead, a range of digital channels can enable us to radically improve our relevance and responsiveness towards our investor communities and gain their deeper trust in return. Learn how a corporation’s finance function can practically approach these new spaces – with a view to “democratising” not just the communication but even investing overall.
